Remembering George Miljanich, Ph.D, Founder & Chief Science Officer

The scientific achievements and warm memories of our friendships with George Miljanich live on with the team members and partners of SiteOne Therapeutics.

As a co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of SiteOne Therapeutics, George brought more than 25 years of experience as an entrepreneur, inventor and scientist that empowered the people of SiteOne Therapeutics with an excellent foundation upon which to build. The seasoned leadership that George provided remains with the company every day as we move forward to help people struggling to more effectively treat acute and chronic pain with novel non-opioid based therapeutics.

George earned his BS and Ph.D in Chemistry from the University of California Berkeley and the University of California Santa Cruz. He was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of California San Francisco, then served as Professor of Neurobiology at the University of Southern California. George authored over 50 scientific publications and is co-inventor on 23 U.S. patents. He served on the advisory boards of Naurex Pharmaceuticals, Adynxx Pharmaceuticals and Jazz Pharmaceuticals, all developing and/or marketing treatments for pain. He was Vice President of the Toxinomics Foundation, which fosters the development of toxin-based therapeutics. In 2012, George was honored with the 2012 Menez Award for his contributions to toxinology. In the winter of 2016, George passed away, leaving his family, friends and business partners with a lasting legacy that we at SiteOne Therapeutics seek to honor every day as we continue on the mission with his memory and his high standard of excellence motivating us.
